Special Match Report: It's Curtains For The Eagle! (14.8.08)
Once more our intrepid combatants moseyed on over to the public house in tumbleweed land that is the Eagle in Eccleshall to indulge in a battle of the baize. The Jades are renown throughout the land for their impressive record at this particular venue and tonight (Thursday) proved to be no different as they sashayed to a 4-3 victory, a scoreline that was somewhat flattering to their opponents.

It must be said at this juncture that, as ever, much joviality and tomfoolery was experienced between both teams. However the evening was marred with an act of idiocy and immaturity that is surely to bring the pool world to its knees!

“It was incredible, I’ve never seen anything like it!”, cried Angus Levenstein, who had become distracted from memorising his list of New Jersey Transit Bus Routes by the theatrics evolving before him. “I was researching the East Rutherford route from 5th Avenue / 26th Street to Willowbrook Mall when one of the opposing team members violently drew the curtains, muttering something or other about a spirit outside waving its arms around. Or something. Who Knows. Then the room was plunged into darkness. Then the Jadesunleashed hell!” he continued.

It was fortunate that this distractory tactic didn’t affect the outcome of the match as ‘Ros Jade’ ripped the curtains from the wall in one defiant swoop together with rail, tie-backs, fixings, raw plugs andchunks of masonry, raising her arms to the heavens and bellowing to the Gods above. It was all the Jades needed to regroup and just ten minutes later they emerged from the fray victorious.

Let there be light!!!!

Special Match Report: Bonnie Gem Polish Off The Jades (10.7.08)
“I was making my way home from a Gemmology conference at the International Gemological Institute in Stockholm”, said eminent Gemmologist Friedrich Von Diamondstein, “When I happened upon the jewel in the crown of pubs, the Bonnie Gem. I quickly set down my microscopes, refractometers and dichroscopes in order to witness with my own eyes an unfolding pearler being performed right here on my doorstep.”

“A game of pool is not entirely dissimilar to my business of examining precious trinkets," observed the excitable distinguished don. “Striking one ball against another in order to cause it to take a specific desired path is just like the bending of light waves as they pass from a medium having one refractive index to a medium, or region within a medium, having a different refractive index. Quite simply amazing!”

“Having said that, the start was dull, with the Jades going 2-0 down but things started to sparkle after Ros, who’s reportedly on an 18 carat roll at the moment, pulled it back to 2-1. But at the Gem those rough diamonds were not to be undervalued as they went on to polish off the next three games with displays of brilliance. At the end Razorman and Bruiser tried to take the shine of the Gem’s precious achievement and won the last game but it was too late as the Gem walked away with a 5-2 victory.”

2.7.08 League Announcements

RED LION TEAMS OUT - both of the teams from the Red Lion are out with immediate effect. All future results for teams with fixtures against either the Red Lion or S F Red Lion teams will be counted as 7-0.

BONNIE GEM RE-OPENS - as of 5.7.08 the Bonnie Gem is open for business as usual.

JADES TEAM STAYS AT JADE ROOMS - The Jades Pool Team will not  be re-locating venue to the Lamb as previously announced as the Jade Rooms is no longer closing and has continued business under new management.

The Jades Pool Phenomenon (A Brief History 1996 - 2008)
The concept for the team was born on a hazy winter Monday evening at The Boar Inn, Moddershall by Razorman and Statman during a particularly reckless alcohol binge.

It was decided that in order to propel the pastime of pool to full throttle antiestablishmental political movement then characters would need to be sought of the ilk that would inject personality and panache to proceedings.

Players were quickly sourced in order to enter the team into the local league for the 1997 season.

Little did they know that this pastime, whilst still frowned upon in many circles today and that no law-abiding parent would ever let their child frequent such establishments, would coincide with it's emergence as a major worldwide television sport.

Over the years players came and went, venues changed and additional talent was sourced along the long and winding road.

Now a nucleus of seven, with each member demonstrating individual skills and traits, they remain a force feared across the land.
