League Rules 2008 1. The League shall be known as Stone & District Pool League and referred to in these rules as “The League”. 2. Teams wishing to enter the League will pay League fees of £40. This will be paid as follows : A) £10 to be paid by all teams without exception at the March meeting B) £15 to be paid at the April Meeting C) £15 to be paid at the May Meeting Any teams wishing to pay in full at the March or April Meeting’s can do so but failure to pay League Fees in full by the May Meeting will result in disqualification from The League. 3. All TEAMS must have a delegate present at each monthly meeting. No apologies with respect to missing monthly meetings will be considered. Failure to do so will result in a fine of £5. Any subsequent failure of attendance will result in a fine of £5 and a 1 point deduction in the league. 4. A registration fee of £2.00 per player to be paid at the March meeting. After this time only registered players will be permitted to play in any competition. Players may be registered with The Chairman or Secretary up to one hour before a match. 5. The version of The English Pool Association rules in operation on January 1st 1995 will be used in all competitions. 6. All team competitions will consist of five singles and two doubles frames. 7. Each team to consist of a minimum of five and a maximum of nine players over the age of 18 years. 8. Each player may play a maximum of one singles and one doubles frame. 9. Thursday matches to start at 8.30pm prompt. Draw should be made at 8.15pm and if there is any delay it is the away team’s responsibility to notify the home team’s contact using the Contacts List. Sunday matches to start at 8.00pm prompt. 10. No postponement of any match is permitted, unless under exceptional circumstances. Non fulfilment of a fixture will result in a 7-0 loss. If 2 hours notice is not given to a member of the committee and an opposing team delegate, a further penalty of 2 points will be incurred. 11. Frames to be refereed alternately by home and away players. A home player will referee the first frame. 12. The start of each frame to be decided by the toss of a coin. The winner of the toss decides who will break. 13. Two points to be awarded for a win in League matches. 14. No result to be challenged after the result card has been signed by both team captains. 15. The winning team to convey the result to the Chairman. Failure to do so will result in a fine of £5. 16. Singles and Doubles Merits results should be conveyed to The Chairman by the Thursday following the match by the individual(s) concerned. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the competition. 17. Team competition results to arrive at The Bonnie Gem, Walton, Stone no later than 9pm on the Monday following the match. It is the responsibility of the winning captain to ensure that the result card arrives on time. 18. In the event of a team dropping out of The League, all matches played will still stand. Fixtures yet to be played will be awarded 7-0. 19. Failure to fulfil a fixture will result in a 7-0 loss. 20. 8 ball clearance. All sixteen balls must be on the table at the start of the visit. All seven balls of one colour and the black ball must be legally potted in the first visit. 21. The maximum debt is set at £20.00. One warning of the financial situation will be issued. Failure to comply within seven days of warning will result in the team being disqualified from all competitions and individuals from the merits competitions. 22. Players, who, in previous seasons, played for a team with an outstanding debt to The League must pay their share of that debt before being considered for registration with a new team. (i.e. The sum total of the debt divided by the number of registered players) 23. All complaints and grievances to be put into writing to the committee. 24. Players may transfer from one team to another. However the following restrictions will apply: i) A player may only transfer once per season. ii) If the captain of the ‘selling’ team agrees to the transfer, then it can go ahead, but the player must ‘sit out’ a two week period. iii) If for any reason the ‘selling’ captain objects (i.e. owing money), then this will be heard by the committee at the soonest possible date. iv) In all circumstances the transferred player may not play in the club cup competitions for his new team, or against their former team.
